Welcome to the FDMS library! Battle of the Books is meeting on Thursdays during students' grade level lunch! See you this Thursday! Parent Volunteers If you love the library setting, we would love to see you a few hours a week! The library is a busy place and there is always one more project to get done from covering books to shelving books to putting up displays. ...Find a book with the Destiny Discover catalog? Click here to go to the catalog homepage. Look for the blue magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner. Sign in using your school account to be able to request book holds. ...Find a book with the old catalog? To use the traditional library catalog click here. You can sign into this catalog as well. ...Return a book/textbook? Have FDMS books from last year? Finished with something you checked out this year? Mrs. Degener
Mrs. Degener graduated from Miami University in Ohio with a Bachelors of Arts and Science, from UAF with her Alaska Teacher Certification and from the University of Montana with her Library Media K-12 Endorsement. She started working for the Juneau School District in 1997 and over the years has been a Technology Mentor, Language Arts Teacher and a STEM teacher. She has been working in the FDMS library since 2013.
Mrs. Degener loves to read nonfiction books about science and history like the story Tracking Trash by Loree Burns or We Beat the Street: how a friendship pact helped us succeed by Sampson Davis or Kon-Tiki, a true adventure of survival at sea by Lisa Norby. She also loves to read a wide variety of fiction stories from The Wave by Todd Strasser to 90 Miles to Havana by Enrique Flores-Galbis to Ungifted by Gordon Korman to Everything Sad is Untrue by Daniel Nayeri.
